yeah I know this has probably been done a hundred times ovr but I can't find anything recent so here I go. I'm trying to make a website, nothing all that fancy but it's for this little organization thing my friends and I have going on. I need to be able to put up at least say, seven pages and I'd rather not have to code. And as the topic says, 'd like the host to be without cost. my problem is that I can't find anything jaws friendly. I used to use freewebs but somehow they've got some new layout or something and it's just not working. so if anyone can find anything else I might be able to work with that would be great. Thanks.
Freewebs is fine. You might also try 50webs. Though you'll have to code if you are going to use 50webs, because unlike freewebs, they won't do it for you.
If you want to have the most amount of customization you possibly can have, use a free domain name service and host the website on a computer that's always on and connected to the Internet. I'd recommend DynDNS (www.dyndns.org) for your domain name registration and XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org) for your host (it's an Apache Web server combined with the functionality of MySQL, PHP, and Perl). I'd go with this combination because it allows for future expandability of the website. You will have to code, though, and there are plenty of good tutorials on HTML (just google HTML tutorials and you should find some that will work).
hmmmm I've tried freewebs, but it's being stupidly slow. It sometimes lets me upload files, but other times it doesn't even show the browse buttons and stuff where you look for the file you want to upload. Does anyone know if I can switch from freewebs, or will I have to start again?
